Vasiliy ShevtsovactorVassily Vassilyevitch Shevtzov was born April 29, 1975, in the town of Mogilev in Byelorussia. Having finished school in 1992, he entered cooking courses. In 1994, he was drafted, sent to the analog of Delta forces, and released January 6, 1996. In 1996-1998, he worked for a police unit, after that, a guard in several night clubs. In 2000, he spent his vacations in St.Petersburg after which he decided to move there. In 2005, he graduated from the Civil Aviation College. Three years ago, Mr.Shevtzov contacted the "Lenfilm" studio and two years later was invited to participate in "Alexandra", a movie then shot by Alexander Sokurov whose desire to work with non-professional actors is so well known. After a few trials he was offered the part of Alexandra's grandson, Captain of the recon company, Denis Kazakov; probably, the director was influenced by the actor's military past. Mr.Shevtzov was not in the least discouraged by the fact that the movie was shot in the Chechen Republic. "That was fun, as if I were a kid, besides, I trusted Sokurov, and one thing more, once they decided to bring Ms.Vishnevskaya over there, that meant they were dead serious about security". Shooting lasted for six weeks during which the actor had to stay in the barracks, get up at six and observe all the rigid rules of the military life. His family was at the time certain he was somewhere on the Black Sea$ the legend was devised in order to avoid trouble. The shooting being over, Vassily Shevtzov returned to his usual life, but he hopes that soon he would appear in yet another movie.
