The Streets of broken lamps (the cops)

The first fashion Russian TV-series, the absolute record-holder for production – since 1997 more than 150 series have been shot during six TV seasons. The TV-series are based on the detective stories by the famous Petersburg fiction writer and ten-years-experienced policemen Andrey Pimenov pen-named Andrey Kivinov.

Since the first series «the cops» have become the country’s favourite characters.

The characters of the TV-series – the Petersburg cops – have been associated by the spectators with the real persons having the same problems like the common people. Captains Andrey Larin and Vladimir Kazantsev, major Oleg Solovets, senior lieutenants Anatoly Dukalis and Vyatcheslav Volkov, charming Nastya Abdulova and, of course, respected and beloved lieutenant colonel Petrenko nicknamed the Toadstool – all of them have become our good friends. The actors playing the main parts have become the people’s favorites and the real TV stars. During the whole life of the TV-series «the cops» have repeatedly become the leaders of video and DVD sales.

The TV-series «The Streets of Broken Lamps» have been greatly appreciated not only by the spectators but also by the professionals - the TV-series have got several prestigious awards, among which the Grand Prix Award of the First Intergovernmental Film Festival «Law and Society» (1999), the National TV Award in two categories «Best TV-Series» and «Best TV-Project of the Year» (1999).

As a rule, each series (one or two) are the cops’ short funny stories about the routine work of the Petersburg murder department.

Music for the TV-series «The Streets of Broken Lamps» has been written by the famous Petersburg film composer Andrey Sigle. He has created the main conceptual musical themes being the connecting link between different series, thus providing the TV-series the stylistic unity.

Practically all Petersburg actors have played parts in the TV-series «Streets of the Broken Street Lamps».

Young actors - film stars at present - have made their debut in this TV-series; due to this project many actors have recommenced their activity in the cinema and on TV.
